Other Reporting Requirements of a Statutory Authority

For the year ended 30 June 1997

Internal/External Committees

State Transit has four significant internal management committees as follows:-

Information Technology Committee

This management committee commissions and approves development of Information Technology (IT) strategies for State Transit. It oversees management of the strategic plan for the control, development, acquisition and implementation of IT facilities and computer systems throughout State Transit and establishes priorities. The committee ensures that the application of IT and systems is in accordance with State Transit's requirements.

Capital Works Committee

This management committee is responsible for ensuring that capital works initiatives undertaken by State Transit are appropriate to the organisation's goals and objectives. The committee also takes into account State Transit's statutory, environmental and community obligations in relation to each project and ensures adherence to Treasury and Premier's Department guidelines. The committee monitors each project from inception through to completion and post-implementation review.

Environment Committee

This management committee ensures that strategic planning in State Transit gives adequate prominence to environmental management issues. It monitors State Transit's environmental performance and ensures that any required corrective measures are implemented. The committee reviews each site's Environmental Management program to ensure that it conforms with the overall policy and philosophy of State Transit.

Tender Review Committee

This management committee considers tenders relating to projects valued at $100,000 or more. The approval of the committee is required at two stages of the tendering process - prior to the advertising of a tender and then prior to acceptance of a tender. The primary role of the Tender Review Committee is to ensure that State Transit's tendering guidelines are complied with and that probity is maintained throughout the tendering process. The Tender Review Committee approved the advertising of 12 tenders in 1996/97.
